Daily Devotion: October 12th 2021

Tuesday October 12th

Read: Mark 5:21-34

Learn: Jesus was on His way to heal young girl when someone touches his cloak. Now if you were in Jesus’ position what would you do? Most of us would probably be moving with urgency to go heal that young girl. But Jesus is not in a hurry. In fact, while we do see that Jesus lived a very active life, He never seemed to be in a hurry. In this case He stopped and took the time to address the woman who came forward, confessing that she had touched his cloak. He intentionally took a moment to speak with the woman. In fact, throughout all of Jesus’ ministry he always took time to speak with people and to care for them. Jesus prioritized people.

Our culture does not prioritize people as much as it should. Instead, we are encouraged to prioritize material things over the people in our lives. Jesus taught us to do the opposite. He taught us to love people and minister to them.

Reflect: Do you make time for people in your life? Are you too busy to stop and care for those around you?

Pray: God, help me to slow down in my life. Help me to recognize that making time to care for others is more important that a busy lifestyle. Give me opportunities this week to slow down and spend time on what really matters. In Jesus name, Amen.
