Daily Devotion: October 16th 2021

Saturday September October 16th

Read: Proverbs 2:6-9

Learn: Seek the Lord and gain his wisdom, for we cannot receive it apart from Him. This proverb tells us that he is a shield to those who walk in integrity and watches over the way of his saints. We cannot expect to be shielded if we are not walking according to his word and in his ways. We cannot likewise expect to be watched over and guarded if we are walking according to our own wisdom. 1 Corinthians 3:19 tells us that our wisdom is folly or foolishness with God. And just like in James where he tells us that if we lack wisdom we should seek the Lord, so I am encouraging you to seek the Lord first in all things (Matthew 6:33). We must walk with, beside and near to our shepherd, who is faithful to give as we ask. It is only through walking with the lord, pacing ourselves with him, that we discover “every good path”.

Reflect: Have I been seeking God first in all areas? Have I been seeking his word from which all knowledge and understanding comes, or am I still seeking for things in my own strength and power?

Pray: Lord help me to seek you, seek your word and seek your wisdom. Help me to put away the things that tie me to my flesh and my own strength and may I come to know the good path which you have called me to walk.
